Oh, there you are! I'm just sprucing this place up a bit and realized that the Christmas Countdown doesn't make as much sense anymore, seeing as it starts with the end (Christmas).I'll be adding some more of your favorite obscure lyrics posts, probably along with some DIY decorations and maybe even Santa will make an appearance...
In the meantime, I'm open for requests!
Have a favorite Christmas song this year (I always do!)? A project that you wish you had accomplished (yeah, I always do too)? Let me know!
Yikes, it is early "here"!
ReplyDeletemy fav this year, much like it was in 2008, is have yourself a merry little christmas...but the REAL version (with the muttling and whatnot). it makes me sad, but its true to life. my crew had never heard that before...lucky for them i happen to have it on my computer :) i thought of you while explaining it to them, and realized that they were not at all in the least bit interested. haha! "Brenda would understand!" i have yet to play it for them, but i'm going to force it upon them soon. we played christmas carols over the raidos the other day while flying so that our recievers could hear. one F-16 pilot told us about his wife and two little girls back home. i thought for sure he'd appreciate my merry little christmas, but then again thought that it might be too close to home and make him sad. we decided to end the night instead on "all i want for christmas is you" by mariah carey. fighter guys really love gay songs like that :p (that's why my co-pilot said anyways, meanwhile i was singing along and nevermind the fact that it was actually on his iphone in the first place! lol).
ReplyDeleteThe Mr. says I like too many depressing Christmas songs--and frequently requests that we listen to the Andy Williams CD when I say I'm putting on Christmas music because, he says, there aren't any sad ones on there... (He thinks "Where are you Christmas?" is depressing too, etc, etc) I still really like "Holly, Jolly Christmas" for a non-depressing approach to an out-of-the-ordinary christmas...
ReplyDeleteI also really, really like O Come, All Ye Faithful and O Come, O Come Emmanuel because they make me think of advent services at church...
I meant to put up two posts on songs, one about "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear" and one about "Baby, it's cold outside" (the la la link is actually my fav version of that song, and I really don't like some of the others)... but... it's nearly Christmas where you are!
One more post, though, coming soon...
er, it's not a lala link--but the link I included to "Baby" is indeed my fav version... doy.
